The Kitting and Assembly Associate plays a crucial role in our production line by accurately assembling, packaging, and prepping automotive and diesel component kits to ensure our inventory remains stocked and ready for shipment.
Job SummaryThe Kitting and Assembly Associate is responsible for gathering individual component parts, verifying they match the bill of materials, and combining them into completed automotive product kits. This role focuses heavily on repetitive task accuracy, quality control, and organized workspace maintenance. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a detail-oriented individual looking to gain experience in a fast-paced warehouse and automotive supply environment.
Key Responsibilities Kit Assembly and Preparation- Gather necessary components, hardware, and packaging materials from designated inventory locations.
- Assemble automotive and diesel performance kits accurately according to standardized visual instructions and parts lists.
- Count, sort, and organize individual pieces (e.g., bolts, seals, brackets, and fittings) into precise kit counts.
- Apply labels, barcodes, and seals to completed packages ensuring clear identification for the inventory team.
- Inspect individual components during the assembly process for visible defects or missing pieces.
- Report any part shortages, damaged components, or kit discrepancies immediately to the Production Manager.
- Ensure the weight or final piece count of finished kits matches specified standards prior to boxing.
- Move completed kits to their designated warehouse storage locations or staging areas.
- Assist the inventory team in keeping kit-building workstations stocked with necessary materials.
- Help maintain clear, labeled organization of the loose-component storage bins.
- Adhere strictly to company safety policies and proper lifting, handling, and storage procedures.
- Use required personal protective equipment (gloves, eyewear) as needed for handling metal parts and hardware.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and workplace efficiency efforts.
Required:
- Must be at least 16 years of age with a reliable means of transportation to the Layton warehouse.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow repetitive, standardized assembly instructions.
- Good basic math skills (counting, sorting) and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30–40 lbs safely.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and dependability.
- An interest in automotive, diesel, or mechanical systems.
- Previous experience in a school shop class, robotics club, or similar hands-on assembly environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive hand movements for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, and move packages or part bins up to 40 lbs safely.
- Professional warehouse setting with occasional noise, dust, or temperature variation.
- Collaborative, fast-paced environment focused on accuracy and efficiency.
- Pay: $8.00–$12.00 hourly rate.
