Custom Manufacturing Assistant

We are seeking hands-on assistance to drive our custom manufacturing and special projects division at CR Lighting & Electric. In this role, you will creatively bridge the gap between digital design and physical production to solve job site needs. You will be responsible for designing unique components, managing 3D printing workflows, and executing CNC manufacturing tasks. Key Responsibilities:

• Design custom parts and assemblies using professional CAD software for unique, one-off projects.
• Manage end-to-end 3D printing workflows, including model preparation, slicing, printer operation, and post-processing.
• Execute CNC manufacturing processes, including setup, operation, and quality checks for special manufacturing runs.
• Evaluate and select appropriate materials and hardware based on mechanical, thermal, and environmental application requirements.
• Collaborate with the team to solve complex fabrication challenges and iterate on designs rapidly.

Requirements:

• CAD Proficiency:
  Experience in 3D modeling and drawing (e.g., Solid Works, Fusion 360, or Onshape, etc.).
• 3D Printing:
  Hands-on experience operating FDM/SLA printers and proficiency with slicing software (e.g., Cura, Prusa Slicer, Orcaslicer, etc.).
• Materials Knowledge:
  Solid understanding of material properties (plastics, metals, composites) and their real-world applications.
• Hardware Familiarity:
  Knowledge of fasteners, mechanical hardware standards, and off-the-shelf components.
• Bonus:
  Experience with CNC machining and design (toolpaths, work-holding, post-processing)
