Overview
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) serves in the plasma center to support operations and ensure donor eligibility, safety, and quality of service. The role reports to the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and works under the Center Physician for medical issues, with guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs and EHS for center-level environmental, health and safety matters.
How You Will Contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health or ER, with reference to EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support related investigations within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent to include graduate-equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: RN, NP, or PA.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy (in-state licensure).
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA-approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $33.44 - $45.98. The actual wage offered depends on factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, education, licenses, and location. Eligible benefits include short-term incentives and comprehensive health and retirement plans, subject to plan terms.
