Job Overview
Davis Behavioral Health (DBH) seeks day shift Psych Tech candidates to support clients in our programs located in Layton, Utah.
Program Locations- Crisis Recovery Unit (CRU): an adult residential mental health facility for men and women that operates 24/7, 365 days a year.
- Davis County Receiving Center (RC): a 23–72 hour alternative to inpatient hospitalization or incarceration specializing in short‑term crisis resolution.
Psych Techs are front‑line support staff who work directly with clients experiencing behavioral health crises. Key duties include:
- Regulate emotion, manage impulsivity, and help clients learn skills for success in home and community settings.
- Manage the unit milieu.
- Respond to crisis calls.
- Facilitate skills‑development groups.
- Assist professional staff in group activities.
- Assist clients in accomplishing treatment objectives outlined by clinical staff.
- Record behaviors and activities.
- Ensure compliance with programs and individual treatment plans.
- Act as liaison between clients, family, and professional staff.
- Monitor client behaviors and apply consequences as needed.
- Provide supervision and structure for clients on site and off unit.
- Drive a 15‑passenger van and transport clients to meetings and approved off‑unit activities.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Positions are non‑exempt. Full‑time employees are expected to work 40 hours per week. Shift options vary by position and include:
- Saturday & Sunday 7:00 am–3:00 pm (CRU)
- 2–3 on‑call shifts per week (CRU)
- Swing shift:
Monday‑Friday 3:00 pm–11:00 pm or 4:00 pm–12:00 am (2 % differential) - Graveyard and weekend shifts:
Monday‑Friday 11:00 pm–7:00 am or 12:00 am–8:00 am; all shifts on Saturday and Sunday (15 % differential).
On‑call shifts are scheduled shifts; employees must be available and generally arrive within 30 minutes of the call. Eligible part‑time psych techs receive a $20 per diem for each scheduled on‑call shift.
CompensationBase hourly rate: $19.25 per hour. Shift differentials apply as described in the schedule section.
Qualifications- High school graduation and one year of full‑time employment in a related clerical field.
- Computer literacy; familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) required.
- Typing 35–40 wpm preferred.
- Preferred: previous experience as a psych tech or in the social work industry.
- Must successfully pass a pre‑employment criminal background check and drug screening.
- Must not be currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; no use of medical marijuana allowed under federal grant regulations.
- Strong preference for bilingual English/Spanish candidates;
Spanish-language incentive stipend available upon successful assessment.
Part‑time positions are not eligible for the agency’s benefits program. All employees may utilize the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Intermountain LiVe Well.
