We're hiring a General Manager to lead our Van's Sanitation location in Le Mars, IA, overseeing day-to-day operations and driving our sustainability mission forward in the local market.
Our team is committed to environmental stewardship, operational excellence, and creating long-term value for the customers and communities we serve. As General Manager of our Van's Sanitation location, you'll play a critical leadership role in supporting our sustainability mission by ensuring safe, efficient operations that contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future for the Le Mars community. The ideal candidate will create a productive work environment that strengthens operational functionality and financial performance, drive safe operations through our Drive to Zero safety initiative, ensure cost-effective maintenance of equipment, and lead continuous improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and service quality.
This person will also build a culture that retains employees and fosters a healthy, engaged workplace across the entire team.
- Build a trusting relationship with the operations team; recruit, manage, and develop drivers, operators, and other personnel
- Develop and establish rapport with office and operations teams while maintaining appropriate staffing functions (hiring, firing, and development)
- Establish systems and standards that drive safety results, track and optimize productivity, and exceed metrics and performance targets
- Deliver an effective return on assets across collection and MRF operations
- Exemplify outstanding customer satisfaction through effective standards, communication, and problem-solving
- Encourage and enforce company core values - Safety, Unwavering, Respect, Growth, and Experience - by monitoring safety policies and practices to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
- Prepare and deliver weekly reporting of key operational and financial metrics
- Coordinate, communicate, and schedule third-party maintenance when needed
- Oversee routes and coordinate scheduling of incoming and outbound loads
- Work with the established management team to plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations that meet and exceed company standards and customer expectations
- Manage overall profit and loss for the operation
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in management
- Proven track record of driving operational and financial outcomes
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable strategies
- Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and lead a successful team
- Ability to lead diverse teams across multiple locations and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to diverse audiences
- Experience in the waste industry
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)

- Schedule:
Monday-Friday, with flexibility for evenings/weekends as operational needs require - Pay Range: $ - $ per year, with participation in annual incentive program
