The RoleThe Main Purpose Of The Role
:
The O&P USA procurement team is chartered to significantly improve the way third party spend is managed, thereby establishing procurement as a major strategic lever and equal contributor to the success of the business. The primary role of the Procurement Specialist is to assist the Commodity Managers, Site Procurement Manager or O&P Procurement Manager in developing the strategic approach to the market and implementing world-class sourcing solutions from detailed end-use and market knowledge, with rigorous performance-based supplier relationship management.

Incumbent requires broad advanced/expert understanding and application of a body of theory in the field of procurement, usually acquired through completion of a degree program and/or equivalent experience. As an individual contributor, the role involves performing increasingly complex tasks and interacting with people inside and outside the organization. The incumbent should be able to persuade and influence others and engage in negotiations in various buying situations.
The incumbent follows diversified procedures and specialized standards, navigating multiple procedures to achieve results. The incumbent solves problems by selecting appropriate solutions, often after reviewing problem elements. The incumbent follows established practices and policies with limited supervisory guidance. Priorities are self-determined, and after-the-fact reviews are common.
Accountability 1: Assist in aligning procurement with the O&P businesses

Activities:
- Work with the commodity manager, business managers and site users to assess needs and contribute to Procurement strategies and tactical plans.
- Develop understanding of and integrate into the supply chain planning process to procure materials in the right quantities and at the right time.
- Collaborate with site procurement associates, Stores supervision and site financial control groups to maintain the integrity of the Material Replenishment Program (MRP) in SAP.
- Implement negotiation strategies and tactical plans to achieve identified needs.
- Understand import laws and processes to effectively manage materials sourced from other countries.
- Ensure procurement processes are followed for all third-party spend.
- Maintain knowledge of local, national and international markets.
- Ensure Procure-to-Pay process is functioning and audit-ready.
Accountability 2: Be a source of positive cash delivery and measurable financial improvements to O&P, especially at bottom of cycle

- Effective spend management of assigned sub-commodities.
- Ensuring assigned contracts and key supply agreements are effectively administered and managed.
- Delivering cost reduction through spend and cost analysis, pricing, extended payment terms, demand reduction, and total cost of ownership (TCO) strategies.
- Collaborate with site procurement associates, Stores and supply chain planners to continuously challenge inventories and safety stock.
- Ensure supplier performance management is in place and actively managed.
- Work with suppliers to reduce lead times, contributing to lower onsite inventories.
Accountability 3: Deliver measurable financial improvements to the business
