Position: Coach

Classification: Seasonal

Primary Reporting Relationship: Athletic Director;
Assistant Athletic Director

Secondary Reporting Relationship: Head of School

Ministry Areas: Bay Area Christian School
- Athletic Dept.

Interfaces: Students, parents, administrators, staff, and other stakeholders as appropriate

Available Coaching Positions Coaches with active CDL licensure receive an additional $500 bonus per sport

Fall 2026:

  • Volleyball
    - Varsity Assistant Coach / JV Head Coach ($2,400)

  • Football
    - Varsity Assistant Coach ($3,500)

Winter 2026-27:

  • Wrestling
    - Junior High Head Coach ($2,800)

  • Soccer
    - Junior High Girls Assistant Coach ($2,000)

Spring 2027:

  • Tennis
    - Varsity Assistant Coach ($2,500)

Job Purpose: The coach shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian athletes to the praise and glory of God.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity

  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout activities

  • Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner

  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration

  • Maintain regular communication with parents

  • Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ

  • Model and teach leadership to students

  • Set goals and teach students how to obtain them

  • Model and teach students teamwork skills

  • Teach students how to apply athletic lessons to success in life

  • Set high standards for language and be a good example

  • Motivate your team with a positive attitude, making the athletic experience fun

  • Ensure all participants feel important by allowing for playing time whenever possible

  • Understand that middle school participation is mandatory

  • Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school's philosophy

  • Enforce rules of conduct by keeping proper discipline on the school premises for a good learning environment

  • Be firm, fair, and consistent in discipline

  • Cooperate with the School Board and administration team in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school

Qualifications

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to remain poised under all circumstances, and to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust

  • Ability to complete assigned tasks without direct supervision

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions

  • Ability to work with people beyond giving and receiving instructions; must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations

  • Ability to listen and respond to counsel

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

  • Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis

  • Must be physically able to operate various office equipment, including computers, copiers, phones, etc.

  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; perform repetitive motion, such as grasping, picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise utilizing finger dexterity
