Job DescriptionPrimary Purpose
Clear Creek ISD counselors design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes. They lead, advocate, and collaborate to promote success for all stakeholders while following the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and contributing to Clear Creek ISD’s mission and strategic plan. This is accomplished through a variety of approaches including guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and system support.
Education/ Certification / Licensure
Master’s degree in counseling from an accredited college or university, preference, or Master’s degree with an approved certification from an EPP
Valid Texas counseling certificate
Special Knowledge / Skills- Knowledge of the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Program
- Effective communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate guidance curriculum
- Demonstration of counseling and guidance leadership skills
- Computer skills consistent with district expectations
- Minimum 3 years of successful teaching experience
- High school counseling experience
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate classroom guidance lessons by teaching the Texas Comprehensive School Counseling Program guidance curriculum components including Intrapersonal Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Personal Health and Safety, and Post-Secondary Education and Career Readiness.
- Collaborate with and provide assistance to other school staff members who may facilitate guidance curriculum.
- Follow district processes and procedures for guidance curriculum implementation as established by the Counseling and Student Services department.
- Attend district guidance curriculum updates provided by the Counseling and Student Services Department to effectively facilitate district-required guidance lessons, as determined by the campus.
- Coordinate and support alpha counselors during one-on-one academic conferences in accordance with the CCISD Credit Verification Process.
- Implement and support the individual student planning component by guiding individuals, groups of students, and parents or guardians, through the development of educational, college, career, personal, or social plans.
- Ensure that the CCISD Credit Verification Process is being followed and oversee the maintenance of student documentation by alpha counselors to ensure graduation requirements are met for all students.
- Participate and evaluate information from the annual Senior Audit with all alpha counselors.
- Support alpha counselors when guiding students and parents/guardians with the college application process as needed. This may include writing letters of recommendation, and completing school reports, and mid-year reports in a timely manner.
- Provide individual college consultations with students and parents/guardians as needed.
- Coordinate, support, and communicate with students and parents regarding secondary courses, programs, and opportunities during the annual CCISD course selection process.
- Coordinate with intermediate campuses to ensure a successful transition which may include course selection presentations, course selection materials, and program application processes.
- Attend the annual course selection update provided by the Counseling and Student Services Department to effectively support the district course selection process.
- Coordinate Dual Credit parent informational sessions and campus Dual Credit enrollment process.
- Work with Dual Credit advisory at partner community colleges to ensure the success of Dual Credit students and programs.
- Work with campus administration to support college-related testing processes (i.e. SAT, PSAT, AP).
