Job Overview

The Campus Special Education Specialist supports campuses in building teacher capacity and improving student outcomes through coaching, professional development, and implementation of inclusive, data‑driven practices. This role ensures compliance with IEP requirements and district, state, and federal guidelines, and actively contributes to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certification.
  • Valid Special Education certification.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Knowledge of qualifying disabilities and programs in CCISD.
  • Knowledge of statewide assessments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer software and multimedia tools.
  • Leadership and problem‑solving skills.
  • Support campuses on data collection, analysis and progress monitoring.
  • Embrace CCISD instructional philosophy and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in content/program knowledge, standards‑based instruction, instructional strategies and best practices, effective instruction for diverse learners, data interpretation, professional learning creation and delivery, adult learning theory, and integration of technology.
Experience
  • 3+ years of successful teaching experience.
  • Varied grade‑level instructional experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
  • Leadership experience in campus or district roles such as lead teacher or department head preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Support vertically aligned instructional practices in the resource and inclusion setting across grade levels for students K‑18+.
  • Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) as needed and support the development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Develop relationships with campus and district personnel and assist with onboarding and mentoring new resource and inclusion teachers.
  • Collaborate with general education staff to support alignment between resource instruction and core classroom instruction.
  • Promote instructional practices that increase student independence and readiness for inclusion in less restrictive environments when appropriate.
  • Advocate for instructional practices that promote high expectations, access, and equity for students with disabilities.
  • Participate in campus and district teams focused on improving instructional outcomes for students receiving resource services.
  • Collaborate with administrators to develop and refine campus or district guidelines, tools, and frameworks to improve instructional practices.
  • Provide coaching and consultation to campus administrators, teachers, and staff who work with students receiving services.
  • Consult with special education campus staff on effective strategies to support student needs.
  • Advise campus teams regarding Extended School Year (ESY) services for eligible students.
  • Collaborate on the development of Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) and support ARD meeting preparation.
  • Meet with teachers and PLCs to support the planning and delivery of instruction, modeling research‑based interventions when appropriate.
  • Provide instructional materials and exemplar lessons for effective teaching/learning strategies, classroom designs, technology integration, and differentiated instruction.
  • Review data routinely to ensure appropriate services and supports are provided to students.
  • Collaborate with campus and district personnel to review and analyze student data to guide appropriate placement and program recommendations.
  • Maintain documentation of campus coaching support and professional learning.
  • Participate in department and district professional learning opportunities for staff and families.
  • Design and deliver professional development for campuses and district staff, including training in crisis prevention and intervention techniques.
