Substitute - Special Education Aide )
Clear Creek ISD District-wide – League City, Texas. Starting date: immediately.
Position Type: Part-Time Salary: $75 to $100 per Substitute.
Job DescriptionAssist the classroom teacher and staff with preparation and management of classroom activities. Support students receiving Special Education Services and collaborate with all staff.
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Provide instructional support in all educational settings, including small groups or individual students.
- Implement appropriate behavior management systems per campus expectations and the student’s IEP.
- Supervise students during the school day, inside and outside the classroom, and in the community.
- Keep the teacher informed of specific needs or challenges of individual students in a timely manner.
- Assist the teacher in preparing, modifying, and adapting instructional materials or equipment to meet individual needs.
- Assist with data collection using the appropriate tools.
- Guide individual or groups of students in daily activities, including monitoring personal hygiene, appropriate dress, eating habits, and behavior.
- After required training, provide personal care services such as lifting, feeding, cleaning, or other services as required.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with school personnel, community members, and students.
- Demonstrate core values: integrity, high expectations, commitment, respect, teamwork, and passion for a student-centered environment.
- Utilize time wisely for effective management of responsibilities.
- Maintain punctuality in work times, appointments, and meetings.
- Maintain student confidentiality at all times.
- Meet task completion deadlines set by supervisor.
- Work cooperatively with co‑workers and supervisors to meet school/department goals.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Patience, tolerance, and flexibility.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work with children of all disability categories.
- Mental Demands: Effective verbal and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress; objective decision-making in crisis situations.
- Physical Demands / Environmental Factors: Frequent moderate activities such as sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs or ramps, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity, distinguishing colors, driving, traveling. Occasional lifting of moderate (15–44 lbs). Exposure to chemicals for cleaning.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Substitutes must be fingerprinted and pass background check (acceptable criminal history).
