Process Engineering Lead - Capital Projects (Houston Area Operating Sites)
LocationHouston Area Operating Sites, Texas & California
Salary Range$157,470 – $210,000
Responsibilities- Accountability 1:
Deliverables & Quality Assurance- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with business standards, codes, regulations, and project‑specific expectations.
- Oversee the accuracy and quality of all engineering work performed by the process engineering function.
- Develop and enforce processes to deliver complete and compliant engineering documentation.
- Review engineering quality metrics and recommend changes to processes.
- Champion SHE compliance and incorporate process safety at initial project design.
- Accountability 2:
Technical Guidance & Feasibility- Lead development of feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and technical risk assessments.
- Work with Technology Managers to develop long‑range plan studies that inform Long‑Range Plans.
- Evaluate technical options, provide estimate validation and optioneering support.
- Present information clearly to all levels of the organization.
- Accountability 3:
Talent & Development- Recruit, train, and manage the process engineering team.
- Drive training, lessons‑learned reviews, and continuous improvement within the function.
- Set SMART goals, manage workload, and promote collaboration.
- Accountability 4:
Process & Policy Management- Develop and maintain engineering management policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure policies are communicated and followed across the function.
- Lead reviews of technical checks and quality audits.
- Accountability 5:
Stakeholder Relationship Management- Maintain relationships with operations, maintenance, technology, procurement, SHE, and external partners.
- Ensure effective communication and alignment on technical requirements.
- Accountability 6:
Auditing & Continuous Improvement- Conduct audits of process engineering activities and implement corrective actions.
- Interpret audit data, identify root causes, and develop improvement plans.
- Undergraduate degree in chemical engineering.
- >15 years of experience in operations, reliability, maintenance, or engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- >10 years of project execution experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, infrastructure or high‑hazard industries.
- >5 years supervising technical professionals or operations personnel.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Track record of leading roles, driving accountability and SHE compliance.
- Technical knowledge of unit operations, design engineering, quality assurance, industry codes, and standards (ANSI, API, ASME, NFPA, PIP, OSHA, ISA).
- Experience with Aspen+, HYSIS, AFT Fathom, Pipenet, EPCON Suite or similar.
- Business acumen, organisational agility, political savvy, and effective negotiation skills.
