Job Description & How to Apply Below
Equipment Integrity Manager and Technical Authority
Location:
Houston area operating sites (Battleground Manufacturing Complex, Chocolate Bayou Works, and other INEOS O&P USA locations). The role primarily embeds at operating sites with secondary presence at the corporate office.
Own and maintain fixed‑equipment engineering and inspection standards (API 510/570/653/579/520/521, etc.). Govern RBI, FFS, NDE, and lifecycle integrity work processes. Exercise final decision authority on standard compliance, deferrals, and derogations.
Resolve complex, multi‑site integrity challenges. Develop enterprise frameworks and long‑term performance programs, anticipate emerging risks, and monitor industry trends.
Ensure each site’s inspection program meets codes, IGGNs, and OMS standards. Conduct periodic assurance reviews, approve high‑criticality inspection deferrals, and prevent improper risk transfer.
Lead the transition to standardized enterprise processes, align site leadership, and ensure tools and systems support long‑term reliability and cost performance.
Provide expert consultation to site leaders and inspection/engineering teams. Coach on RBI, FFS, DMRs, interval logic, and weld repair practices, and lead discipline forums.
Align TAR scope with EI priorities, advocate on residual integrity risks, influence maintenance, inspection, and capital investment strategy.
Track leading indicators of integrity risk, oversee improvement initiatives, and integrate lessons from incidents and audits.
Define EI competency and training expectations, lead a central EI SME team, and influence all site‑based EI professionals.
Participate in INEOS discipline networks and external committees (API, AFPM, etc.). Bring external learnings to strengthen internal systems.
Set technical expectations for inspection and engineering service providers, support procurement strategy, vendor qualification, and performance reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 20+ years of mechanical integrity, inspection, or fixed equipment engineering experience in refining, petrochemicals, or heavy industry.
- Advanced knowledge of API 510/570/653/579/520/521, ASME codes, and applicable regulations.
- Proven leadership in RBI, FFS, inspection strategy, weld repair, and relief systems.
- Experience with OSHA PSM mechanical integrity requirements.
- Participation in external technical committees or industry networks preferred.
- Recognition as a fixed equipment integrity authority, with expertise in RBI, FFS, asset lifecycle strategy, and degradation/damage mechanisms.
- Experience supporting TAR planning/execution and capital projects.
- Strong judgment in high‑stakes engineering decisions and ability to apply financial and commercial understanding to integrity decisions.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and technical courage; strong influence skills without direct authority; trust‑building across functions.
- Excellent communication skills for translating complex engineering to business impact, resilient change agent, and proactive systemic risk manager.
This role is based in the Houston metropolitan area, supporting multiple INEOS O&P USA locations. The position reports to the Engineering & Technology Manager and works closely with site engineering, maintenance, operations, turnaround, and capital project leadership teams. Hybrid work is supported, but on‑site presence is essential.
INEOS is an equal‑opportunity employer and values diversity, inclusion, and safety.
