Operations Manager
Salary: $137,000 – $162,000 base, plus bonus and strong benefits
We are working with one of our valued clients to identify an experienced Operations Manager to support terminal operations and lead day-to-day operational excellence.
Position SummaryThe Operations Manager provides daily leadership and supervision of the Operations team while supporting terminal projects and continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of terminal control room activities, as well as marine, truck, and rail operations.
The Operations Manager works closely with terminal personnel to provide guidance, drive performance improvements, support employee development, and contribute to the overall success of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership & Coordination- Provide daily supervision of the Operations department
- Coordinate with the Logistics department on operational and maintenance matters
- Support Engineering and Marketing teams on projects and customer-related issues
- Work closely with the HSSE department on safety, security, health, environmental, and quality matters, including training and regulatory audits
- Participate in budgeting activities and internal audits
- Analyze service levels, identify improvement opportunities, and report findings to management
- Oversee the validity of third-party inspections and authorizations
- Monitor the effectiveness of the HSSEQ Management System at all terminal levels
- Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, accidents, and incidents; ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented to prevent recurrence
- Oversee daily terminal operations, including product movements and storage activities
- Implement and improve operational processes to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, minimize losses and contamination, shorten turnaround times, and support training initiatives
- Monitor inventory levels, ensuring accurate records and effective stock management
- Maintain product gains/losses within technical and contractual limits; investigate and report extraordinary variations immediately
- Ensure effective product quality and quantity controls
- Operate the terminal within its defined operational envelope, including tank levels, pressures, temperatures, and flow rates
- Ensure all process, measurement, and safety-critical equipment is inspected, calibrated, and certified in accordance with regulations and corporate standards
- Monitor the accuracy of the Automatic Tank Gauging System
- Ensure products are handled in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to protect personnel and facility integrity
- Lead and actively participate in all process safety programs, including:
- Control of Work
- Management of Change
- Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management
- Environmental Protection and Pollution Prevention
- Conduct internal audits at least twice every three years
- Close audit findings by addressing root causes in a timely manner
- Maintain a continuous state of “audit readiness” for regulatory, customer, and government inspections
- Ensure all non-conformances, customer complaints, and incidents are fully investigated with corrective and preventive actions implemented
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a midstream oil and gas terminal environment
- At least 5 years’ experience in oil and gas management
- Prior chemical handling experience preferred
- Prior terminal experience required across all areas of terminal operations
- 8–10 years of experience in liquid bulk/tank terminal or process industry operations
- Direct accountability for day-to-day terminal operations
- Demonstrated ownership of Process Safety Management (PSM) elements, including:
- Management of Change (MOC)
- Control of Work
- Direct experience managing physical versus book stock
- Practical knowledge of API, MPMS, ISGOTT, and NFPA standards
- Hands-on audit and compliance experience
