START A CAREER IN COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT WITHOUT PRIOR HOA EXPERIENCE!
We seek positive and motivated professionals who want to make a complete career change to property and HOA community management. We do not require prior HOA experience as our education program provides an industry-leading foundation. The initial training will take one year, and you will become an industry expert in three years. Mentors will provide real-life support to advance your skill set.
The education in community management will serve you well in future roles within our company or in your external career progression.
WHAT IS A COMMUNITY MANAGER?
Put simply, the community manager is the face of our organization. It is a multi-faceted role where you wear many hats: a liaison between the HOA board of directors, homeowners, and vendors. You will own tasks and projects, provide excellent customer service, manage vendor relationships, and operate your portfolio of communities with a positive attitude.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A COMMUNITY MANAGER
- Passionately live our Same Day Response Policy.
- Engage with board members and homeowners in your community.
- Manage daily, weekly, and monthly tasks for a portfolio of associations.
- Plan for and facilitate association board meetings and annual meetings.
- Vendor relations, including bidding and project management.
- Consult with other departments in support of your communities.
- Risk management, insurance, and litigation support.
- Prepare budgets and manage the finances of the associations.
- Must be available for after-hour emergencies.
- Plus, additional tasks as necessary.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A GREAT COMMUNITY MANAGER?
We are looking for career-minded professionals who align with our culture. You should have a customer-centric attitude, take ownership of tasks, be a team player, be coachable, highly organized, accountable, and capable of multi-tasking. You will be guided by training and mentorship to build these capabilities.
WHAT SKILLS ARE NEEDED
We will teach you the ins and outs of running successful HOAs, but these skills are helpful to have already:
- Approximately ten years of solid work experience (8+ preferred).
- Ability to attend or run evening meetings (typically 30–40 per year).
- High-level organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to learn other business computer systems.
- Strong customer-friendly and informative communication skills.
- Some experience with financial statements and budgets.
- Comfortable with public speaking in small and large meetings.
- Strong conflict management skills in sometimes stressful situations.
- Experience gathering bids for large projects and managing those projects.
TRAINING PROGRAM
- Assigned a Community Manager Mentor to guide on the job.
- Part of a tribe of community managers at varying experience levels to learn from.
- Completion of a unique in-house, web-based learning academy.
- Updates on laws and seasonal topics throughout the year.
