Fleet Mechanic II – Clear Creek ISD
Primary Purpose
:
Responsible for all preventative maintenance services and repairs to ensure proper performance, safety, and reliability of vehicles used for the transportation of CCISD students. Actively engage in actions that support Clear Creek ISD’s mission and strategic plan.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Texas commercial driver’s license with school bus and passenger endorsements and a clean driving record.
- CCISD Fleet Technician Career Path TASBT Step 1 certification or willingness to obtain it.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability.
- Understanding and execution of verbal and written instructions.
- Cooperative, self‑motivated, and initiative‑driven.
- Ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills for data entry into maintenance systems.
- Minimum of two years in Mechanic II level, including bus, automotive, or truck mechanical repair; experience may be hands‑on, classroom training, or combined.
- Evaluate and perform all necessary vehicle repairs within qualification level; notify supervisor when repairs are complete or when further assistance is needed.
- Analyze and tune engines using engine analyzers.
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles as required.
- Diagnose vehicle failures, remove and replace parts as necessary.
- Inspect all vehicles for additional repairs.
- Ensure all major repairs are inspected and approved by the Shop Foreman before release.
- Maintain a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work area.
- Identify and report any necessary repairs, including those above current qualification level.
- Record time spent, parts used, and repairs on the appropriate forms.
- Report unsafe practices or conditions to the Shop Foreman immediately.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding equipment maintenance.
- Bring abnormal vehicle abuse or major mechanical problems to the attention of the Shop Foreman.

- Perform other duties and accept responsibilities as assigned.

- Maintain emotional and professional control under stress.
- Work around high noise levels.
- Moderate walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching.
- Heavy lifting and carrying.
- Work both outside and inside.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
- Work around moving objects and machinery with moving parts.
- Variable shifts or extended hours as district needs dictate.
- Respond to mobile call‑outs for emergency breakdowns and onsite repairs.
Terms:
230 days
Pay Grade: AUX 6
