American National Insurance Company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Houston, TX, with several locations across the US:
League City, TX, Springfield, MO, and Glenmont, NY.

Our Summer Internship Program is designed to provide students with meaningful, real-world corporate experience while helping build a strong, long-term talent pipeline for American National. The program blends hands-on, role-related project work with intentional learning, leadership exposure, business education, and relationship-building opportunities.

Our 2027 summer internship program begins on Monday, May 24 and ends on Friday, August 6. An optional extension to August 13 is available. Intern positions are paid hourly with a full-time schedule of Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, for the entirety of the program.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Junior standing or higher by the start of the internship;
    May 2027 graduates are welcome
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Available to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday
  • Able to work onsite at the posted role location

What You’ll Do & Skills You’ll Build

In this role, you’ll support identity and access management initiatives that help employees securely access business applications. You’ll gain hands‑on experience documenting application processes, supporting authentication configurations, testing solutions, and improving operational workflows. Along the way, you’ll build practical knowledge of single sign‑on (SSO), multi‑factor authentication (MFA), security protocols, and enterprise cybersecurity technologies.

  • VS Code, Ping One Console, Access to LDAP, AD, RACF
Qualifications We’re Looking For
  • Major:
    Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering.
  • Protocols:
    Understanding of SAML 2, OAuth 2, OIDC, and WS-Federation.
  • Directory Services:
    Familiarity with LDAP, Active Directory (AD), and Azure AD.
  • Coursework, projects, or hands‑on experience with identity and access management technologies is preferred but not required.
  • API Security:
    Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and token‑based authentication.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making abilities
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing needs
