The teacher will facilitate learning for Responsive Ed students, fostering intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher collaborates with parents and students, developing competencies and skills necessary for successful societal participation. Leadership, motivation, and rigorous education for all students will be provided.
Qualifications- Texas State Teacher’s Certification in the subject to be taught.
- Bachelor’s degree with a passing score on an ExCET/TExES Exam for the grade level or content area taught.
- Bachelor’s degree with an academic minor or major (minimum 18 credit hours) in the core academic subject areas taught.
- Bachelor’s degree and documented, relevant work experience in the content area, verified by at least one year of employment that required demonstrable knowledge or skill in the subject, supported by a professional letter of recommendation from an employer or supervisor.
- Experience teaching in a classical school or using classical traditional methods.
- Passion for students and for the instructional academic content.
- Ability to model virtue, teach virtue through the curriculum, and cultivate habits of virtue in students.
- Understanding and passion for classical education, including the ability to learn and implement classical teaching curricula and methods.
- Capacity to maintain a classroom of approximately 20‑27 students and work interactively with them.
- Strong organizational, time‑management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, communicate with students, parents, peers, administration, and community.
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as diagnostic test results, state assessment scores, and GPA.
- Flexibility to transition with changes and to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel as necessary for field trips, class trips, trainings, etc.
- Computer literacy.
- Prepare effective lessons, instruct, and motivate students using classical traditional methods.
- Assign lessons, correct classwork and homework promptly.
- Administer formative and summative assessments, record results, and issue progress reports to parents.
- Provide academic interventions for struggling students.
- Maintain student grades and communicate with parents through the school’s online grading system.
- Maintain discipline and a conducive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
- Set a good housekeeping example and encourage students to follow it.
- Regularly communicate with students and parents about progress, both positive and negative.
- Participate in required faculty and professional meetings, conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Inspire, praise, and correct students with consistency, care, and interest to promote virtue and academic success.
- Work closely with Special Education and 504 teachers to ensure accommodations are implemented.
- Sponsor activities or student organizations, assist students in course selection, and counsel on adjustment and academic problems.
- Participate in marketing and student recruiting activities as necessary.
- Perform special projects during and after school hours, including tutoring, drop‑off and pick‑up duty, pageants, and award ceremonies.
- Read and comply with the RES Employee Handbook, RES Student‑Parent Handbook, Founders Classical Academy Campus Handbook, and relevant procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
