Role Overview
An opportunity is available for a senior-level HVAC Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize mission-critical HVAC and refrigeration systems. This role involves performing advanced preventative and reactive maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including RTUs, split systems, and specialty process cooling systems. The position provides technical oversight for vendor installations and supports capital improvement projects to ensure environmental reliability for production and testing operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a senior technical expert for campus-wide HVAC systems.
* Perform advanced diagnostics, root cause analysis, and corrective repairs on complex HVAC and refrigeration systems.
* Maintain and optimize RTUs, split systems, chillers, exhaust systems, dehumidification systems, and specialty environmental systems.
* Support mission-critical environments, including clean rooms, lab spaces, and temperature/humidity-controlled production areas.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior HVAC and maintenance technicians.
* Review vendor proposals and installation scopes for compliance with operational standards.
* Oversee and inspect third-party HVAC installations and retrofits.
* Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure maximum uptime.
* Support compressed air (CDA), vacuum systems, and process cooling infrastructure.
* Coordinate with other facilities maintenance teams for cross-functional support.
* Maintain detailed maintenance records in CMMS systems.
* Support multiple sites within Texas as required.
Required Qualifications
* 10+ years of commercial and industrial HVAC experience.
* Advanced troubleshooting experience on systems ranging from 5 tons to 100+ tons.
* Strong understanding of HVAC electrical schematics, control wiring, and refrigeration circuits.
* Experience working with mission-critical or industrial environments.
* EPA Universal Certification.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience supporting aerospace, manufacturing, lab, or test facilities.
* Building Automation System (BAS) troubleshooting and programming experience.
* Experience with chilled water systems, hydronic systems, and process cooling loops.
* Experience with dehumidification and environmental control for sensitive equipment.
* Compressed air (CDA) and vacuum pump system experience.
* Knowledge of redundancy planning and uptime reliability strategies.
* Plumbing experience.
* Ability to operate heavy equipment such as a forklift, scissor lift, or skid steer.
* Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation.
* Proficiency with CMMS and digital work-order systems.
Work Environment
This role requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, climb ladders, and use hand and power tools. The position involves lifting and carrying equipment and materials. Candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks and work in industrial environments.
