GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Department of Fire Prevention & Electrical Safety in Cheyenne as our Office Manager & Budget Specialist

This position will be responsible for the agency's budget and accounting practices. This position manages the daily operations of the accountant and administrative support staff within the agency. This position is required to know and manage the agency's budget from start to finish. In addition, this position serves as an assistant to the Director, provides support of the agency's strategic plan works within the agency's record management, and license management systems.

- Responsible for the agency's budget and fiscal monitoring, including the development and oversight of the Department's annual assessments to fund the budget.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures for the agency's accountant and administrative support staff.
- Participates in strategic planning and documents the progress of the agency's strategic goals.
- Performs research and analyzes data.
- Manages and oversees all Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Grants, and Fixed Assets functions for the agency.
- Performs as agency purchasing agent.
- Manages agency records and archiving.
- Monitors budget and provides approval of monthly expenditures.
- Assists the agency's HR representative in the employee onboarding process.
- Maintains the agency's policies and procedures.
- Manages major projects and initiatives.
- Coordinates facilities and maintenance functions.
- Assigns, logs, track the progress of, and disseminates information.
- Coordinates travel and meetings.
Preference will be given to applicants with state budget and accounting experience.
KNOWLEDGE- Knowledge of state budget systems and processes.(IBARS)
- Knowledge of state accounting systems and processes(WOLFS).
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local statutes, laws, and ordinances.
- Knowledge of management, supervisory, and organizational techniques.
- Knowledge of fundamental principles, concepts, practices of accounting, Federal regulations and State personnel Rules and policies affecting payroll procedure.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Business)
Experience:0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Business Office Coordinator I
OR Education & Experience Substitution:4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Business Office Coordinator I
