Summary

Embark on a career opportunity as a Pharmacy Technician for the Leavenworth VA Medical Center VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System. EKHCS is a complexity 1c facility offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient treatment programs, including acute medical inpatient units (ICU/PCU), acute psychiatry/mental health rehab beds, three community living centers, outpatient physical medicine and rehab, mental health, geriatrics, and prosthetics.

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship:
    Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Education or

    Experience:

    None required.
  • For all grade levels accepting both education and experience: equivalent combinations totaling at least 100% are qualifying.
  • Grandfathering Provision:
    May qualify under specific VA Qualification Standards if applicable.
  • Foreign

    Education:

    Must be deemed equivalent to U.S. education by a recognized private organization.
Grade Determinations:

Details for GS-3 to GS-6 levels, including education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and typical assignments, are provided in the original description.

Physical Requirements:

Heavy lifting, reaching, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, visual and auditory requirements are specified.

Duties

  • Perform pharmacy duties such as reading prescriptions, obtaining medications, measuring, and dispensing medications.
  • Repackage medications, maintain inventory, and operate pharmacy equipment.
  • Perform duties in patient care areas, including restocking, inventory management, and assisting with inspections.
  • Work Schedule:

    Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM, including nights, weekends, and rotating holidays.
