Overview

The Medium Production Operator reports through the Leavenworth Production Center and may be in multiple departments. Individuals in these departments operate a variety of medium presses that apply different processes to different products.

Shift and Compensation

This position is on 3rd Shift (11:30pm - 8:00am), Monday through Friday. Starting pay for this position is $26.20/hr with an additional $1.75/hr for 3rd shift differential for a total of $27.95/hr additionally, this position is eligible for an increase of $0.80/hr every 6 months until you reach the max in the pay band ($30.80/hr).

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate a variety of medium presses that typically add processes to or manipulate roll wrap and other product. The machinery is of varying vintages, manufacturers, and types with multiple variable impacting press performance.
  • Perform make-readies to machines; processes may include cutting, flitter, laminating, virko, rewinding, rolling.
  • Maintain tolerances related to counter measurements and proper alignments with attention to detail and math skills.
  • Troubleshoot, perform quality checks, and correct variances using tools such as shear, saws, grinders, and micrometers.
  • Handle rewind operations and determine press speed; operate multiple presses and work in a team environment as required.
  • Utilize computers to convert information to plates.
  • Engage with press issues or performance by asking probing questions.
  • Potential exposure to heat and chemicals (hazardous and non-hazardous) with a sense of urgency to meet cycle times and customer expectations.
  • May learn and perform multiple assignments within this job classification across departments.
  • Follow safety practices.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to grasp, lift and carry product weighing up to 30 lbs frequently and 60 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to pass color perception test
  • Ability to constantly stand and/or walk
  • Ability to frequently reach, twist, bend, perform repetitive hand/wrist motion and fine motor skills
  • Ability to work occasionally at or above shoulder level
  • Successful experience in internal 37 Packaging Operator or 38 Press Operator classifications or external machine operator equivalent
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good math, written, oral communication skills and ability to learn and retain knowledge. Math skills require computations such as percentages, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Good safety practices: the ability to understand and follow established safety procedures.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and to work under pressure to meet or exceed production requirements.
  • Good planning and organizational skills to set up work area and manage work flow.
Location

This position is located in Leavenworth, Kansas. Relocation is not provided.
