Young Adult Pastor

Johnson County, Kansas Johnson County Campus

The Young Adult Pastor will lead the Young Adult ministry (Paradigm) at the Johnson County campus with a goal of seeing lives changed by Jesus within Paradigm, the city, and beyond. The Young Adult Pastor will be responsible for equipping the saints for the work of the ministry by developing and deploying ministry leaders.

• Be committed to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18; 1 Peter 2:2) by assembling for instruction in God’s Word and engaging in the personal study of God’s Word.
• Responsibly use the resources at your disposal to foster the mission and vision of Abundant Life (1 Peter 5:1-4).
• Participate in an Abundant Life group (Acts 2:41-42) as well as the discipleship ministry (Matthew 28:18-20).
• Live in a way that glorifies God and aligns with the staff core values (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9).
• Be committed to giving to the needs of the saints (2 Corinthians 8:1-7 & 9:12).
• Maintain membership and active involvement at Abundant Life.

• Lead the Young Adult staff at the Johnson County campus.
• Work with the Young Adult Director (current oversight lies with the BSP Campus Pastor) for ministry alignment and oversight
• Protect and reinforce culture by bringing clarity to areas that otherwise would be left unchecked.
• Engage in Young Adult staff 1:1's and other activities that ensure the overall health of the staff team.
• Make final ministry decisions in a democratic staff environment.
• Lead team leader meetings on Thursday morning as the great commission and Gospel-centered voice that the team leaders need.
• Set the agenda for the team leader meeting according to the needs of the people.
• Check up on the health of male team leaders.
• Protect the overall health of each team by leading the team leaders.
• Meet with at least two non-team leaders every week from the ministry.
• Intentionally step into multiple challenging conversations weekly.
• Lead the development, spiritual growth, and vision of our team leader retreat (not expected to plan the logistics of the retreat).
• Disciple young men in the ministry.
• Teach the Bible when called upon (according to 1 Timothy 4:12-16) at Paradigm, Sunday Next Steps class, On-site groups, Group Connect, or within any other area of ministry.
• Partner with other Abundant Life pastors in the coordination of hospital visits, funerals, general care, and shepherding of the church body.
• Other duties as reasonably assigned.

The Young Adult Pastor should be a highly motivated and relational leader of leaders with excellent communication skills who prioritizes ministering to people with reliance on the Holy Spirit. This person must have a desire to fulfill the Great Commission with a proven ability to recruit, develop, encourage, and inspire volunteers and ministry leaders while creating a healthy and productive environment.

Problem solving, conflict management, and decision making are all skills that will be tested. Familiarity with computer applications (MS Office) is a must to perform the daily functions of the job. The Young Adult Pastor must exhibit a commitment to honor the Lord in work and life, embody the Abundant Life Staff Core Values (Synergy, Excellence, Integrity, Tenacity, Humility, and Loyalty), and call our church body to our mission of seeing lives changed by Jesus and our vision of being living proof of a loving God to a watching world.

• A bachelor’s degree is preferred
• 3+ years of experience in ministry is preferred
