Core Civic is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Correctional House Supervisor for a nursing job in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Job OverviewWe are looking for a Clinical Supervisor (RN) or Director of Nursing (RN) for our new Behavioral Health Unit. The successful applicant will perform the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements:
- Report directly to the Warden/Facility Administrator or Health Service Administrator for daily clinical operations within the medical department.
- Manage and supervise daily nursing/clinical activities.
- Supervise nursing and non‑licensed health care providers in the performance of their duties, evaluate as prescribed by facility and corporate policy, and develop work schedules, approve leave requests, and take corrective or disciplinary actions.
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of licensure, applying appropriate nursing skills to the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
- Ensure adequate staffing at the facility, filling in as needed during periods of short staffing and performing nursing duties such as executing physician’s orders, assisting physicians, dispensing and administering medications, treating emergencies, and screening patients for referrals.
- Perform triage and physical assessments.
- Perform and direct emergency care and procedures as needed and call the Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders.
- Graduate from an accredited college or university nursing program with a diploma/degree in nursing.
- Must possess current licensure in the state of employment.
- Two years of nursing experience required.
- One year of supervisory experience preferred.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and possess a strong knowledge base of clinical nursing and basic principles/practices of management.
- Must have a basic working knowledge of computer and office equipment.
- Minimum age requirement: at least 21 years of age.
