Job Description

The Store Design & Visual Merchandising Specialist is responsible for developing store layouts and merchandising plans that support an engaging customer journey while ensuring operational excellence across Rally House retail locations. This role partners cross-functionally with Construction, Operations, Merchandising, and Marketing to create scalable store solutions that optimize space, support merchandising strategies, and deliver a consistent brand experience.

The Store Design & Visual Merchandising Specialist develops store models, documents visual merchandising direction, validates fixture and hardware requirements, and supports the successful execution of new store openings, remodels, and special projects from concept through implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Develop retail store layouts and models that optimize the customer journey, product adjacencies, traffic flow, and overall shopping experience.
  • Create and maintain detailed store drawings, floor plans, and merchandising layouts using Visio and other design software.
  • Assist with the development of visual merchandising guide photography that illustrates merchandising standards, product placement, and presentation expectations.
  • Produce clear documentation and execution guides that support consistent merchandising standards across all store formats.
  • Plan and merchandise non‑standard retail spaces, specialty areas, and custom fixtures as needed.
  • Calculate, validate, and document fixture, hardware, and merchandising equipment requirements for new stores, remodels, and refresh projects.
  • Perform fixture and hardware counts to ensure store plans accurately reflect installation and merchandising needs.
  • Partner with Construction, Operations, Merchandising, and other cross‑functional teams to coordinate project deliverables and support project timelines.
  • Present store layouts, merchandising plans, and space optimization recommendations to cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Review store plans for accuracy, identify opportunities for improved merchandising execution, and recommend layout enhancements that improve the customer experience.
  • Support field teams during store openings, remodels, and merchandising initiatives by providing design guidance and resolving layout or merchandising questions.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, store records, and design standards to ensure consistency across all retail locations.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance store design processes, merchandising standards, and documentation.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to interpret floor plans, fixture layouts, and construction documents.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and CAD software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of retail space planning, store layouts, and visual merchandising principles.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Retail Design, Visual Merchandising, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in retail store design, space planning, visual merchandising, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience using CAD software and retail space planning tools preferred.
Physical Requirements

Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment. Able to clearly view and read information on a computer screen. Occasionally lift or move items up to 15 pounds.

Location and Travel Requirements

On‑site in Lenexa, KS. Ability to travel up to 20% to support new store openings, remodels, field merchandising initiatives, site surveys, and project implementation.

Pay Range

$55,000.00 – $70,000.00
