Responsibilities
The Painter, Automotive coats surfaces of motor vehicles—automobiles, buses, and trucks—with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices. The role includes removing old paint with liquid paint remover and scraper, smoothing surfaces with sandpaper and steel wool, roughening aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure paint adhesion, masking and covering portions that are not to be painted, applying paint to specified portions of the vehicle, and painting insignia, letters or numerals using stencils.
Qualificationsand Requirements
- Formal documented training in painting and at least five years of documented Painter, Automotive experience.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally and frequently or constantly lift 40 pounds.
- Ability to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in cramped areas for extended periods.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, including intense heat, heavy wind, heavy rain, snow or sleet.
- Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain licenses for military vehicles, tactical and non‑tactical.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Pass a background check and obtain a security clearance if required.
- Pass random drug testing as required.
- Demonstrated understanding of safety and OSHA laws and regulations.
