- 50% Coordinates Friendly Visitor Program
- 35% Telephones and conducts in-home visits for a caseload of up to 36 older adults
- 10% Serves as a certified SHICK counselor and assists older adults with information for insurance decision-making.
- 5% All other duties as assigned
Under the general supervision of the Social Work & Support Services Coordinator, the Friendly Visitor Program Coordinator interviews, selects, trains, and monitors volunteers; assesses potential participants appropriateness for the program, and matches and monitors all volunteer matches. In addition, this position executes the OAA Title IIIB Telephone and Visitation program and tracks grant data regarding client interactions. The Friendly Visitor Program Coordinator promotes senior services and provides information to seniors about issues concerning their wellbeing, applicable program and benefits and serves as a Senior Health Insurance Counselor of Kansas (SHICK) to provide counseling during Medicare open enrollment.

Organizes work, sets priorities, meets critical deadlines and follows up assignments with minimum direction. Possesses attention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills. Collects data, maintains records and navigates the agencys reporting system. Ability to provide information and assistance in print, in person and by phone. Ability to answer questions and complete applications and forms to assist seniors. Ability to relate to and communicate with older adults who are dependent on community services to remain in their own homes.

Provide information and referrals, by phone and through home visits to client caseload. This includes, but is not limited to, answering questions, filling out applications and forms, explaining correspondence, applying for benefits, resolving issues with benefits (SSI, SS, VA, etc), acting as an advocate in any capacity, referring and making appointments for legal aid, gathering information to use as reference material, doing general assessments of client needs and explaining available services to them, following up with other agencies or the client to ensure that the client has received services, and discussing problems with family members when requested.
Field incoming inquiries from community regarding client participation in program (phone calls, emails, and agency referrals) responding within 2 working days. All new potential clients will be phone screened within two working days of referral and if they are a potential match recipient scheduled for an in-home assessment. Contacts will be recorded in database within one working day of contact.
Assess/interview potential volunteers through face to face interviews, preferably within 1 week of initial volunteer screening by Volunteer Coordinator.
