Art Manager, Screen Print Art Production

Company Overview:

Branded Custom Sportswear, Inc. is a licensee of Nike. We manufacture and market decorated collegiate licensed clothing and accessories to the college bookstore market and pro sports, nationally. We are a division of Design Resources, Inc. located in Overland Park, KS comprised of three entities which are all related to the apparel industry.

Role Overview:

The Art Manager, Screen Print Art Production, leads the execution of high-volume production artwork for screen print decoration for licensed Nike product. This role oversees internal and external art resources, ensures artwork meets production, licensing, and quality standards, and drives efficiency throughout the production art workflow. The ideal candidate combines strong production art expertise with exceptional team leadership, organization, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop production artists and outsourced art resources.
  • Manage department workload, priorities, and schedules.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development for team members
  • Partner with leadership on recruiting, onboarding, training, and succession planning.

Production Art Management

  • Oversee the creation and revision of screen print production artwork from concept approval through final production.
  • Ensure artwork complies with customer, licensing, brand, and production requirements.
  • Maintain quality standards while meeting aggressive production timelines.
  • Review artwork for accuracy, consistency, printability, and production readiness.

Workflow & Process Optimization

  • Manage art queues and production schedules to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Coordinate with production, approvals, design, merchandising, and customer-facing teams to resolve challenges and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce turnaround times, and enhance quality.
  • Track and report weekly production output metrics, workload, and department performance to leadership.
  • Manage relationships with outsourced artists and Production Art partners.
  • Assign, track, and review outsourced work to ensure quality and adherence to deadlines.
  • Coordinate revisions and communicate feedback effectively.
  • Review vendor invoicing and support budget management activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Design, Sales, Licensing, Production, and Operations teams to support business objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for screen print production requirements and best practices.
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of screen print production art experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and production-art best practices.
  • Strong understanding of screen print production processes, separations, embellishment techniques, and decoration requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
