Summary of ResponsibilitiesThis position serves as a strategic resource within the Accounts Receivable function, responsible for end‑to‑end accounts receivable operations, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, invoicing, cash application, collections support, reconciliation, and system/process optimization across multiple AAFP programs, products, and services.
The role partners closely with Accounting, IT, and internal stakeholders to support appropriate application of GAAP revenue recognition standards, ensure accurate financial recording, and leverage scalable processes and AAFP approved technologies, including automation and AI‑enabled tools, to enhance efficiency, controls, and audit readiness.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of four years of related experience including accounts receivable billing and collections.
- Deferred revenue analysis and reconciliation.
- Revenue recognition experience, including application of GAAP revenue recognition standards (ASC 606).
- Contract review experience, including evaluation of accounting implications related to pricing, performance obligations, and timing of revenue recognition.
- Audit support (internal and/or external).
- System implementation, testing, or major system upgrade experience.
- Data entry experience and strong math and computer skills.
- Computer skills required include Excel, Jira, Word, Outlook and Workday.
- Knowledge of other software preferred: financial and membership systems (e.g., MAP, Swoogo, A2Z, Maritz, Avalara) including use of revenue recognition subledgers and schedules; payment and merchant platforms and portals (Worldpay, Cybersource, Pay Pal, Elavon).
- Problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data, contracts, and accounting implications.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
- Ability to identify, recommend, and implement efficiencies while maintaining strong internal controls.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and demonstrated ability to learn and adapt as accounting standards, systems, and technologies evolve.
