Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Director of Maintenance. The Director of Maintenance is responsible for driving fleet performance, expense reduction and cost savings across the leasing organization. Align maintenance programs and functions to achieve company financial goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) as well as increase operational efficiency and customer satisfaction and retention.

Objectives are to maximize fleet uptime and preventive maintenance programs while reducing asset lifecycle costs. Drive disciplined execution of programs and procedures focused on reducing maintenance expense and eliminating unnecessary expense. Lead strategic initiatives regarding vendor management, parts procurement and cost control.

  • Assesses present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities of each service department.
  • Leads the development and execution of maintenance strategies that align with established financial goals and objectives regarding asset management and customer satisfaction.
  • Partners with senior and field management in appraising the activities, results, and performance against objectives of each Service Department and recommends corrective action, when applicable. Evaluates and makes recommendations on improving each Service Department's layout and tooling to improve operational efficiency.
  • Establishes and enforces standardized maintenance processes and procedures across all Service Departments to ensure consistency, accountability, and scalability. Ensures established workflows achieve timely processing and closure of repair orders and warranty claims. Identifies gaps in KPI achievement and implements corrective actions.
  • Establishes and maintains positive strategic relationships with major vendors, parts suppliers and PACCAR Leasing Corporation to improve service levels and control costs. Oversees procurement plans to ensure availability, pricing competitiveness, and inventory optimization. Manages outside repair spend to ensure vendor accountability and performance standards.
  • Leverages technology and data to identify maintenance expense trends, cost variances, component failure rates, and possible warranty recovery opportunities. Uses telematics and predictive maintenance tools along with standardized repair codes (VMRS) to establish standardized reporting to convey information to management and field personnel to make data‑driven decisions to ensure KPI achievement and process improvement. Makes recommendations on equipment specifications based on analysis of maintenance data.
  • Supports key customer relationships by participating in account reviews, sales efforts and solutions development. Ensures maintenance execution meets customer expectations and contractual requirements.
  • Assists management in formulating annual and monthly Service Department sale/profit objectives and expense budgets in accordance with company objectives.
  • Develops and coordinates technical training objectives and programs for Technicians to ensure quality repairs, keeping pace with technological changes, and improving equipment uptime. Provides training to Service Managers regarding management tools, industry trends, and equipment changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated, successful performance in an executive leadership position with a full-service truck leasing organization or large fleet for five or more years.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in managing profit and loss drivers and operational KPIs.
