Registered Nurse (259004) Leawood, Kansas

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join a fast-paced orthopedic urgent care team. This is a high-volume environment serving approximately 85 patients per day, with a diverse patient population ranging from pediatric patients to older adults.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RN with orthopedic or urgent care experience who is comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and providing high-quality patient care in a fast-moving setting.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and triage patients based on acuity and coordinate care with providers.
  • Provide patient and family education while serving as a patient advocate.
  • Enter electronic orders and accurately document treatments and procedures.
  • Scan medical records and supporting documentation into the electronic health record.
  • Fax orders for continued care, including PT, MRI, CT, and ultrasound.
  • Observe, document, and report patient conditions according to nursing standards.
  • Answer patient phone calls and document appropriate information in consultation notes.
  • Assist providers with patient care, including splinting, DME application, and wound management.
  • Perform phlebotomy and process laboratory specimens.
  • Review x-rays, labs, cultures, and other results and coordinate necessary patient follow-up.
  • Maintain clean and organized patient rooms and clinical areas.
  • Set up, maintain, and clean clinical equipment.
  • Document procedures and accurately record supplies used during patient encounters.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with 3–5 years of nursing experience.
  • Strong orthopedic or fast-paced urgent care background.
  • Experience working effectively in a high-volume clinical environment.
  • Ability to manage rapid, back-to-back patient flow while maintaining quality of care.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct orthopedic urgent care experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with a diverse patient population.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a collaborative clinical team.
  • Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and stress tolerance.
  • Ability to step into a fast-paced environment and become productive quickly.
Schedule
  • 36 hours per week
  • Option 1:
    Three 12-hour shifts during the week
  • Option 2:
    Two 12-hour shifts plus two 6-hour weekend shifts
  • Scrubs required

About the Practice

The orthopedic urgent care team provides specialized care for acute injuries involving the foot, ankle, knee, hand, wrist, shoulder, elbow, hip, neck, and back.

The clinic treats a wide range of orthopedic and sports-related injuries, including:

  • Fractures and broken bones
  • Sprains and strains
  • Muscle and tendon injuries
  • Ligament injuries, including ACL and MCL injuries
  • Muscle contusions
  • Sports-related injuries

This is a high-volume environment where strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to remain composed under pressure are essential.
