Special Education Teacher
Lebanon Public Schools is looking for a special education teacher for our Preschool and Kindergarten students. The goal is to assist our youngest learners who require specialized instruction for academic achievement, social, emotional, and behavioral skills, and/or the life skills necessary to reach their fullest potential. This involves a team approach with general education teachers, related services providers, and para educators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, systematic instruction in academic, social, communication, behavioral, and adaptive skill areas.
- Design differentiated lessons aligned to IEP goals and the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards.
- Prepare DTI (Discrete Trial Instruction) books when appropriate and supervise para educators in implementation.
- Serve as case manager for assigned students, ensuring compliance with all special education timelines and documentation requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborate with related service providers, preschool and kindergarten staff, families, and administrators.
- Supervise and collaborate with para educators to ensure effective implementation of student goals.
- Conduct evaluations, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings during Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings.
- Experience with Early Childhood Outcomes (ECO) reporting with Brigance and DOTS.
- Attend Birth to Three transition meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district special education regulations and timelines.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and class expectations.
- Complete all required administrative duties, including reporting on student performance.
- Think flexibly and adapt to the specific needs of students

- Knowledge of best practices in early education and special education
- Ability to use instructional technology
- Proficiency in completing developmental evaluations
- Proficiency with IEP development and implementation

Comprehensive Special Education, PreK-12; 065 or 165
Salary:
Per Lebanon Education Association Contract
FTE: 1.0 FTE
