Special Education Teacher

All candidates should have experience working with students with a wide range of disabilities in both inclusive and separate settings. Duties include teaching and co-teaching, as well as participation in the MTSS process. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with parents and the entire PPT team, write IEPs in accordance with state and federal mandates, act as case manager for special education students, and plan, modify, and adapt lessons for both grade level teachers and para educators who work with specific students and groups of students.
Candidates should show strong collaboration skills with support service providers.
Works collaboratively with grade level student teams
Provide Case Manager services, including development, implementation, and monitoring of IEP goals and objectives; liaison with general education teachers; communication with home
Attends and/or coordinates PPTs and other meetings for assigned students and present up to date information on progress toward goals and objectives
Conducts and presents educational testing results, using this information to review and revise current IEP goals and objectives
Collects and manages progress monitoring data pertaining to various student goals and objectives
Ensures that all related services and class accommodations are being implemented with fidelity in the appropriate settings
Participates in professional development and other meetings with the special education department and school-wide faculty
Provides co-teaching partnerships in general education classes; adapts and modifies curriculum materials and instructional approaches; serves as a resource to the general education staff in regards to working with a diverse learner population
Provides direct instruction in reading, writing, and/or mathematics so students are able to meet or close the gap in meeting district-wide benchmarks
Implement and monitor behavior support and incentive plans for assigned students
Provide supervision and ongoing training for paraprofessional staff working with students
Certification:
Comprehensive Special Education - 065, 165, 265 or DSAP certification required
Salary:
Per Lebanon Education Association Contract
