The Foreman reports to the General Foreman and must have experience leading heavy industrial civil construction crews. Must understand all safety hazards related to the work and oversee the safe and effective operation of work-related tools and equipment. Will be required to work in an industrial facility on construction jobsite setting.
Responsibilities- Proactive in all areas of safety and recognize potential safety issues/hazards
- Leads a skilled labor work crew engaged in specific construction activities
- Optimizes manpower to ensure efficient and timely completion of work
- Ensure work crews are properly supplied with tools, equipment, and materials
- Demonstrate good organizational skills and follow/enforce policies, procedures, and work practices
- Give instructions to the workforce in an efficient and effective way
- Understand the purpose and proper technique for placing and securing bars or in concrete forms to reinforce concrete structures
- Ensure work is being completed according to project specifications and safety standards
- Inspect completed work to ensure proper installation
- Must have a valid TWIC card or receipt confirming application
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a foreman role and 5+ years’ heavy industrial civil construction experience
- Must be experienced in heavy industrial civil construction processes to efficiently and effectively perform all job responsibilities
- Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., but may occasionally push/pull, lift, or carry up to 100 lbs.
- Subject to repetitive use of hands/arms, and legs
- Hand/eye coordination
- Must be able to communicate (hear, comprehend, and speak) to safely perform work
- Will need to be able to perform sedentary to heavy work
- May operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, and pneumatic) of all types
- Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
- Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing /pulling, or standing and lifting
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
- May be required to work in confined spaces
- Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/supervision
- Reading and writing comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work and/or safety policy
- Ability to use math/complete calculations
- Work at various tempos, and concentrate amid distractions
- Decision making skills necessary
- Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe details
The job will primarily be on or around construction/turnaround sites in petrochemical operational units and include possible hazardous environments such as confined spaces and working osure to loud noises, dust, dirt, irritants and smoke may occur. Special Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary to control some hazardous environments. Additional forms of PPE may be required depending on the particular project.
Safety requirements must be verified and meet standards set forth by client permits, policies and procedures, and be performed in compliance with all federal, state and local laws or ordinances before work activities can begin.
