Position Overview

The Lead Technician - Maintenance leads the coordination of maintenance resources to provide first-line support for production processes. This role manages issues from initial Operations escalation through successful resolution, equipment return to a qualified state (Ready for Use, or RFU), and handover back to operations.

The position requires expertise in multiple production processes and equipment, proficiency in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and foundational knowledge across disciplines including mechanical, electrical/instrumentation, and automation.

The Lead Technician - Maintenance develops and implements equipment maintenance strategies, supports production processes, and contributes to area maintenance initiatives, process improvements, and project execution. This ensures equipment remains in a qualified state, operates safely, and receives proper maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe work environment, lead safety initiatives, perform safety reviews and audits, identify and eliminate safety issues, and ensure accountability for all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Corporate and Site Goals.
  • Own the break/fix response for process equipment, including performing hands‑on maintenance.
  • Coordinate maintenance resources to resolve issues, partnering with operations and escalating as needed per the established model.
  • Initiate, request, review, and disposition Work Orders (WOs), Maintenance Action Plans (MAPs), and HOLDs in a timely manner to support maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Act as owner/user for WOs (electronic and paper), facilitate scheduling of maintenance activities, create and maintain maintenance procedures, and ensure accurate, complete, and detailed documentation in the CMMS system (and paper when required).
  • Own the maintenance program for equipment in the assigned process area, including accountability for area Maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinate and control Preventive Maintenance (PM) planning and execution and serve as the lead maintenance representative during shutdown planning and execution.
  • Mentor frontline resources in maintenance execution and transfer knowledge of equipment capabilities and operational techniques to operators, engineers, and maintenance personnel.
  • Perform hands‑on maintenance tasks in cleanroom environments, including:
    • Preventive maintenance inspections/repairs and documentation of additional needs.
    • Removal, repair, adjustment, and installation of assemblies (e.g., pumps, agitators) using manual and powered tools.
    • Diagnosis and repair of basic electrical issues (e.g., lighting circuits, 3‑wire control systems, 120V circuits, heat tracing, motor resets, fuse/breaker resets).
    • Troubleshooting root causes of machine problems (e.g., excessive vibration/temperature, abnormal noises, poor performance).
    • Layout, measurement, fabrication, and installation of short pipe sections; fabrication of parts (e.g., brackets, stands, guards, insulation boxes) using shop equipment.
  • Support site instrumentation, system change controls, capital projects, process improvements, Commissioning & Qualification (C&Q) activities, calibrations, shakedowns, verifications, and equipment qualifications.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors as needed.
  • Daily operations will be carried out in a clean setting with the required PPE, such as scrubs.
  • Perform activities in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and applicable procedures.
