The Boone County Prosecutor's Office manages a wide array of criminal cases annually, including both adult and juvenile felonies and traffic infractions. With a Child Support Division handling over 2400 cases and collecting over $3.4 million yearly, the office ensures accountability and justice within Boone County. Dedicated to protecting the innocent and prosecuting fairly, the office strives to operate with integrity, fairness, and dedication.

Role Description

The Victim Advocate Coordinator (VAC) provides comprehensive support and advocacy for victims of crime throughout the judicial process. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures victims are informed, supported, and empowered, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of victim services within Boone County.

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to victims of crime.
  • Ensure victims are informed of their rights and available resources.
  • Assist victims in preparing for court proceedings, including victim impact statements.
  • Facilitate communication between victims and deputy prosecuting attorneys to ensure timely updates and accurate information.
  • Notify victims of upcoming court dates
    , hearings, and case developments.
  • Coordinate referrals to community‑based services and support networks.
  • Assist victims in registering for Indiana VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) and provide ongoing support related to notification services.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of victim interactions and services provided.
  • Track and report statistical data on victims served and services rendered.
  • Prepare and assist in the completion of restitution documentation to support victims’ financial recovery.
  • Recommend policy and procedural improvements to enhance victim services and workplace efficiency.
  • Organize and participate in outreach activities to raise awareness of victim services.
  • Represent the Prosecutor’s Office at community events, collaborative meetings, and public safety initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Experience in Victim Services and Victim Advocacy preferred
  • Background in Social Work and Case Management
  • Knowledge of Criminal Justice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide emotional support to individuals in crisis
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related field/or similar experience
  • Experience working with legal and law enforcement agencies is beneficial
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
