Junior High Assistant Wrestling Coach

This position assists the head coach in teaching and coaching students to the highest level that can be attained, while promoting academic achievement and policies of the district.

Performance responsibilities include:

  • Implementing board and administration policies.
  • Determining appropriate actions within clearly defined guidelines.
  • Presenting a positive image of the school to parents and conveying the district's genuine concern with the education, growth, and development of each student.
  • Developing a positive public relationship between the school district and community.
  • Establishing friendly and cooperative partnerships between home and school.
  • Reacting positively to directives.
  • Developing drills and practice activities that teach and enhance individual/team skill development.
  • Observing, diagnosing, and prescribing appropriate remediation activities during practice and game conditions for players and team.
  • Knowing and applying the developmental stages of each point of the sport to the needs and ability levels of the players and team.
  • Assuming responsibility for providing training rules and expectations and seeing that rules are taught to each participant.
  • Assuming responsibility for documenting the requirements for physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
  • Planning and enforcing appropriate safety and health rules and regulations.
  • Assuming responsibility for supervising students on out of town activities, at practices, at home events, etc.
  • Communicating effectively with all audiences, i.e. players, officials, parents, supervisors, peers, and spectators.
  • Performing all other duties related to the position as assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, and head coach.

Supervisory duties include supervising students at all times.

Qualifications include:

Clearance on all background checks required by law that is satisfactory to the administration.

Demonstrate ability to work effectively with students, peers, and adults.

The individual must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures/forms, and government regulations and guidelines. Must be able to complete forms, write reports, and engage in written correspondence with parents. Must have the ability to write clearly and complete lesson plans.

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students.

The individual must understand basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use. Will be using district software for recording grades and finding student information.

Frequently the individual will be required to work outdoors for extended periods of time to supervise class sport activities.

Terms of employment:
Twelve weeks in accordance with MSHSAA policy dictating junior high season length.

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the athletic director and principal in accordance with provisions of district board policy.
