Must-Have:

- Experience with chest tubes

- Experience with drips such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone

- Experience with lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients

- Experience with trachs and laryngectomies

- Experience with telemetry

- Experience with complex wounds

- Experience with central line care, maintenance, and blood draws

Description:

Med Surg RN needed for an inpatient surgical unit.
This unit cares primarily for trauma patients and acute care surgical patients.
It has two negative pressure rooms suitable for patients with specific needs.
This is a busy unit focused on rehabilitating and supporting patients.
Common diagnoses include trauma cases such as spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries.
Other diagnoses include orthopedic injuries from trauma and various acute care surgical procedures.
Travelers should have experience on a fast-paced medical surgical unit.
Preferably, experience should be from a Level I Trauma center, though several years at a Level II Trauma center is acceptable.
Patient ratios are 1:4 during the day shifts and 1:5 during night shifts.
LNA ratios to patients are 1:12.
