Technical Support Specialist VI

Position #44989 – $37.22/hour – $51.07/hour

Summary

Serve as the technical lead who understands the intricacies of the architecture surrounding cloud-based ERP applications, and various integration types with third‑party software (e.g., SQL ETL processes, SFTP and CSV files, Odata, etc.). Oversee the design, evaluation, selection, implementation, and monitoring of systems and hardware components to facilitate the implementation and continued processing of applications at New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) and its customers.

Provide troubleshooting techniques and training, perform point‑of‑sale and B2C/B2B hardware and software evaluation, and provide strategic oversight for installation, upgrade, and maintenance of retail environment hardware devices.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/

Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 12 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Must be in mathematics, computer science, business administration, computer networking, systems operations, or related field, with at least 3 years of designing and maintaining computer networks and providing technical support in a multi‑platform environment.

License/Certification:
Valid driver’s license and access to transportation.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel statewide.
  • Must be able to work alternative schedules, including during non‑business hours, for planned installations and upgrades or for other work that cannot be done without major disruption to users and network systems within core business hours.
Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics 365/Dev Ops/Azure systems and environment to serve as a high‑level bridge between NHLC, DoIT and their partners/vendors. Experience in an architect level role working with legacy modernization to cloud‑based ERP applications. Hands‑on experience with Azure Portal, subscriptions, Active Directory/Entra , Synapse, Virtual Machines (VMs), Power BI, Precision Forms, data integration including data mapping and ETL processes (such as Kingsway Soft).

Ability to interpret business requirements into functional and technical specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Designs, plans, and implements systems solutions; coordinates with customers, developers, consultants, contractors, and staff to assure functionality, availability, capacity, and performance.
  • Develops business systems procedures, maintenance procedures, resource allocations, system monitoring and troubleshooting, security hardening, and system standards, and provides informal training on these topics.
  • Performs a lead role on projects and work tasks, mentors technical resources on related projects ensuring that work meets requirements, policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees performance and duties of assigned technical support staff, contractors, and consultants to ensure that their efforts fulfill the overall needs of the department. Trains subordinate staff for on‑the‑job direction and guidance.
  • Reviews status of retail environment hardware and software for performance optimization, security, and short and long term capacity planning.
  • Diagnoses and resolves business applications software and hardware problems that cause service interruptions.
  • Through technical research, forecasts problems and identifies solutions to present to management.
  • Researches, develops, and implements tools to improve automation and assist in day‑to‑day business applications administration.
  • Develops system documentation including operating and maintenance procedures, resource allocations, and system standards.
