A

Schedule That Supports Your Life

Medical Specialties on L1WC is a 53-bed inpatient medicine unit spanning two floors, where nurses work three 12-hour shifts each week. This schedule offers more full days off, greater flexibility, and more time to recharge, travel, or spend time with family and friends. It is a structure that supports work-life balance while keeping your skills sharp and your career moving forward.

Challenging,

Meaningful Nursing Work

This unit cares for medically complex adult patients in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where no two days are the same. Nurses build confidence, sharpen clinical judgment, and expand their scope of practice every shift while caring for patients with conditions such as kidney and liver failure, sepsis, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, cardiac and respiratory illness, complex infections, and post-operative complications. The work is dynamic, collaborative, and deeply meaningful.

Nurses across experience levels thrive here because this unit combines strong support with real clinical depth. You will gain valuable inpatient Med/Surg experience while developing skills that open doors to future opportunities across the hospital.

In this role, you will

  • Build advanced assessment, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Strengthen critical thinking and clinical decision-making
  • Learn to manage IV medications, drips, and complex care plans
  • Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary care team

Nurses partner daily with Hospital Medicine physicians and teams such as Respiratory Care, Wound Care, Vascular Access, Infectious Disease, Nephrology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Endocrinology.
