Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg surgical unit requiring recent trauma experience and a NH or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Position is on a 32-bed surgical medical-surgical unit,

• Patient population includes post-operative vascular, thoracic, colorectal, and general surgery cases,

• Common diagnoses include ARDS, esophagectomies, whipples, and sepsis,

• RN-to-patient ratios are 4:1 for day shift and 5:1 for night shift,

• LNA ratios are 1:7-11, shared with the PCU,

• Floating to other units is required,

• Telemetry monitoring is part of the role,

Job Requirements

• Active NH or compact RN license in good standing,

• Current BLS certification required,

• Recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 trauma experience within the last two years,

• Experience with post-surgical care including chest tubes, various lines, tubes, and drains,

• Proficiency with drips such as diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone,

• Experience caring for trachs, laryngectomies, and complex wounds,

• Central line care, maintenance, and blood withdrawal required,

• No local candidates allowed; must live at least 75 miles from the facility,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include care of complex post-surgical patients and monitoring of telemetry,

• Team support includes LNA staff sharing the unit with PCU,

• Holiday coverage and floating to other units may be required,

• Assignment is Med/Surg surgical unit only,
