PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

Position Objective
- The Registered Professional Nurses is accountable to meet the complete nursing needs of a defined group of patients utilizing the nursing process and the medical plan of care in accordance with the New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act and the Patient Bill of Rights.
Performance Expectation
- Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
- Follows theseven medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
- Performs patient care using an integrated approach that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
- Ability to formulate an individual plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan for effectiveness.
- Communicates clinical information appropriately to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. Collaborates with all ancillary departments.
- Coordinates and supervises patient care, as necessary.
- Demonstrates an ability to organize and prioritize job function.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Performs physical/psychosocial assessment to collect data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines.
- Utilizes assessment data to identify patient care needs, to include patient education and discharge planning.
