Job Description & How to Apply Below
This is a part-time, weekend-focused position requiring availability for a minimum of two events (or five hours) per month, with occasional Friday and evening shifts.
What You'll DoArrive before guests to prepare the event space and ensure everything is in order. Welcome families and groups at the door, collect signed waivers, and walk clients through the event plan. During the event, you'll anticipate needs, coordinate transitions between activities, and keep things running smoothly. When the event wraps up, you'll manage food logistics, guide the group through breakdown, and restore the space and equipment to proper order.
You'll be expected to know and follow all emergency protocols and the facility's Emergency Action Plan, and to report any safety concerns to the director without delay.
Lock-in events are an occasional part of the role — staff are asked to work no more than one to two per year.
What We're Looking For Candidates must be 18 or older and hold a high school diploma or GED. Prior experience in customer service is required. Current Basic Life Support (CPR) and First Aid certification is required; if you're not yet certified, you'll need to complete training at the next available session after hire.
Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to stay composed and professional when situations don't go as planned. You should be comfortable with light to moderate physical activity — this role involves setting up and breaking down event spaces, which includes lifting up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Familiarity with the Countryside YMCA's facilities is a plus.
Additional Requirements Candidates must pass a criminal background check and complete all new hire training prior to working independently. Schedule flexibility may be requested based on event demand. Reliable, punctual attendance is essential.
Our Commitment to Child Safety Countryside YMCA maintains a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and is committed to providing safe environments for all children and vulnerable individuals in our care. All staff are required to complete child protection training, follow our behavioral guidelines, and report any suspicious or inappropriate conduct immediately. We conduct thorough screening for all employees and volunteers.
EOE Statement:
Countryside YMCA is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or veteran status.
