Position: Human Resources Generalist with Payroll Back-up Responsibilities

Description Position Overview

The Human Resources Generalist supports daily HR operations and serves as a primary resource for employees and supervisors across all HR functional areas. This role manages key processes throughout the employee lifecycle, ensures consistent application of company policies, and provides backup support for payroll processing to maintain continuity and accuracy. The HR Generalist partners closely with HR leadership, Payroll, and department managers to promote a positive, compliant, and well organized workplace.

Responsibilities

Human Resources Operations
  • Administer recruitment activities including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and preemployment processes
  • Facilitate onboarding and offboarding, ensuring timely completion of documentation, system updates, and employee communication
  • Maintain accurate employee records, HRIS data, and compliance documentation
  • Support benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee inquiries
  • Assist with employee relations by responding to questions, documenting concerns, and escalating issues appropriately
  • Coordinate training sessions, performance review cycles, and development programs
  • Process HR transactions including status changes, promotions, transfers, and leaves of absence
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and dashboards for leadership review
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies, including recordkeeping and reporting requirements
Payroll Back Up Responsibilities
  • Serve as secondary processor for weekly payroll cycles
  • Review and validate timekeeping data, attendance records, and pay adjustments
  • Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and error resolution
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of payroll information
  • Support payroll activities as required
  • Collaborate with Payroll and Finance to ensure alignment between HR data and payroll outputs
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; an associate degree paired with relevant HR experience will be considered.
  • 2-4 years of human resources experience required; payroll exposure strongly preferred.
  • Prior recruiting experience is beneficial.
  • Experience with in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
  • Payroll certification is beneficial
Technical & HR Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and HRIS/ATS systems.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Competencies & Skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and solve problems effectively.
  • Professional presence with the ability to represent the organization positively to applicants and employees.
  • High level of integrity with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Additional Requirements
  • Occasional travel may be required for career fairs, training, or other HRrelated events.
