What You’ll Do
Starting pay is approximately $58,000 based on shift assignments.
Responsibilities- Provide patient care as directed
- Document patient-related care promptly within the electronic health record
- Maintain patient medical records
- Administer medication, including oral and intramuscular medications; may administer intravenous therapy if appropriately certified
- Perform treatments
- Assist with Doctor’s Sick Call
- Assist with chronic care clinics management
- Participate in patient care planning and treatment team activities
- Respond to emergencies
- Provide emergency care and collect patient data
- Collect vital signs and document all findings
- Collect urine and/or other body fluid specimens
- May perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis
- Prepare patients for release and/or transfer (i.e., intra-system, out to court) by reviewing patient care, completing Intra-System Transfer Summaries and/or Release Summaries
- Ensure discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services
- Participate in work-related training and all institution training exercises as assigned
- Provide assistance to other healthcare staff
- Investigate and document problem areas and/or areas of concern
- Review shift report from preceding shift(s)
- Assist physicians with medical procedures
- Assume duties of other nurses during absences
- Observe, document, and provide nursing support to assistive personnel (i.e., nurse aides, psychiatric attendants, and/or patient care assistants)
- Provide patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities
- Perform administrative duties
- Attend meetings
- Schedule multidisciplinary team meetings
- Perform and/or assist with inventory and ordering of medical supplies
- Assist ancillary staff including Health Information Technicians and medical schedulers as needed to ensure patient care needs are met
- Work overtime as required
Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code. MDS certification issued by ANNAC (American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination).
Ohio has joined the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), allowing an LPN to hold one multistate license (MSL) in their primary state of residence while practicing virtually or over state lines in 37 other compact states.
