Pay: $25.61 per hour

Responsibilities- Leads and trains lower-level air quality technicians and incarcerated individuals in installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems.
- Performs highly skilled maintenance and installation work on HVAC equipment.
- Inspects equipment operation periodically and performs preventative maintenance as scheduled.
- Repairs air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems, including pumps, fan motors, thermostats, and filters.
- Welds metal components when required.
- Inspects and tests installed equipment for proper assembly and identifies needed repairs.
- Determines materials needed, prepares cost estimates, and submits purchase requests.
- Reads blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Maintains inventory of HVAC supplies.
- Tracks tools used by incarcerated individuals, completing tool control forms daily.
- Performs other maintenance and miscellaneous duties such as semi-skilled carpentry, painting, electrical, sheet metal, and HVAC related tasks.
- Ensures compliance with security regulations.
- Serves on institutional committees.
- Attends training sessions, seminars, and meetings.
- Performs security functions as required (e.g., man‑down, shakedown, inmate movement).
- Executes other duties as assigned, including snow and ice removal and grass cutting.
Appropriate type (Type I, Type II, Type III, or Universal) of “technician” certification issued by an EPA–approved certifying organization per Section 608 of the Clean Air Act; six (6) months verifiable experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning & refrigeration maintenance, repair, and installation; one (1) course or three (3) months experience in blueprint reading; one (1) course or three (3) months experience in hand & power tool operation;
one (1) course or three (3) months experience in minor welding operations. Alternatively, six (6) months experience as an Air Quality Technician 1 (Job Code 52291) with the required certification, or equivalent minimum class qualifications for employment.
