Auxiliary Assistant
Under the general direction of the associate director, the Auxiliary Assistant provides various duties as assigned which may include proctoring exams, serving as a reader and/or scribe for exams, and as an assistant in the classroom, lab, and clinical environment.
Knowledge- Knowledge of lab equipment and safety procedures (if applicable). Ability to follow directions.

- Able to perform the duties as instructed.
- Able to operate computer and manipulate needed items to complete the assignment.
- Previous experience in administering academic test exams in an educational setting, or similar experience.
- Knowledge of lab equipment and safety procedures (if applicable).
- Ability to follow directions.
- A.A. or A.S. Degree or completion of 60 units of college credits.
- Appropriate academic background.
- All majors are accepted, but we especially need STEM backgrounds (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
- Take dictation/record answers for quizzes/exams/ assessments as directed by the student.
- Assist with the preparation of the testing area, check in/check out students for exams/quizzes, resolve questions, observe test taking, and collect testing materials at end of exam/quiz.
- Follow all safety procedures.
- Physically manipulate lab materials as described by the student.
- Adjust and move lab equipment as described by the student.
- Take dictation to record lab data and complete lab worksheets as directed by the student.
- Reading aloud academically required materials.
- Assisting with in-class assignments.
- Hours assigned as needed during the 8-5 school day.
The essential functions of this job require lifting and moving up to 10 pounds. Employees frequently use hands to operate a PC and perform other tasks such as sitting, reaching, and occasionally standing, walking, stooping, and smelling. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Work EnvironmentDuties are normally performed in a typical office setting. The noise level is usually low to moderate.
Pay Transparency ActWestern University of Health Sciences is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The Expected Pay Scale is $20.97 hourly (minimum and maximum).
