Job Summary:

To provide research experience in the fields of infectious disease, molecular biology, and/or bioinformatics. The employee will assist the principal investigator and her team in federally funded research and may take on an independent research project.

• Assist with experimental design and preparation.
• Assist with data interpretation and analysis.
• Assist with maintenance of snail breeding colonies.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

• Work study eligible student in good standing at COMP‑Northwest.
• Familiar with basic laboratory technique and safety.
• Excellent organizational and note taking skills.
• Demonstrate a commitment to working for an organization that values and promotes humanism.

• Interest in gaining laboratory research experience.

• 1‑10 hours per week

Minimum $17.00 Hourly

Maximum $17.00 Hourly

Do the essential functions of this job require lifting? Yes. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. The job requires the use of hands to grasp laboratory objects, standing, walking, sitting, and occasional reaching with arms. Vision demands include close and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The job is performed in a typical laboratory setting with exposure to disinfectants, toxic or caustic chemicals, lab animal allergens, and occasional heavy equipment. Noise level is usually moderate.
