Standardized Patient – Western University of Health Sciences, Lebanon, OR (Part‑time).
Job SummaryThe major responsibility of this position is to perform realistic portrayals of patients or clients for learners on the WesternU Lebanon campus and for outside clients as needed. Performances require simulating physical signs and symptoms, responding to verbal cues from learners, and providing accurate assessments of learners’ clinical and interpersonal skills. The role often involves non‑invasive physical examinations and repeated simulations while maintaining accuracy and standardization.
Key Responsibilities- Perform realistic portrayals of patients or clients during simulation events.
- Respond to learners’ verbal cues and follow case instructions consistently.
- Participate in non‑invasive physical examinations and repeat encounters accurately.
- Complete checklists and provide constructive feedback to learners and colleagues.
- Assist with recording and documentation during simulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed case instructions.
- Strong reading and writing skills for absorbing case training and completing assessments.
- Excellent recall of performance details.
- Ability to adjust performance based on feedback from coaches and standardized patient educators.
- Comfortable with repeated physical examination maneuvers, including wearing a hospital gown with undergarments and being recorded.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Computer skills and experience with required software programs.
- Acting or education experience.
- Prior experience as a standardized patient.
Hourly: $17.00 – $20.00.
Physical DemandsLifting up to 25 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, and use hands for prolonged periods. Comfortable with exposure during physical examinations.
