American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring PA or compact RN licensure, 2+ years of experience, and Epic charting proficiency.

• Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes stable post-cardiac surgery, peritoneal dialysis, respiratory, cardiac disease, stroke, and joint replacement patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5/6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirement on an every-other-weekend basis
• Floating required to all Med/Surg floors and potentially rehab
• No on-call requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required, no license issues accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required, NIHSS preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, oxygen administration, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care, and IV insulin protocols
• Preferred skills include PICC line management, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, post cardiac angiogram/MI/surgery care, and surgical drain management
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

• Provide direct nursing care to Med/Surg Tele patients including cardiac, stroke, respiratory, and post-surgical cases
• May care for COVID-19 patients
• Work closely with CHF and Stroke Program Coordinators for patient education initiatives
• Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holiday periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• One day of orientation provided before starting assignment
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days per contract
• Local candidates accepted, though rate differs from travel rate
• New travelers may be considered depending on Med/Surg experience level
