Asphalt Laborer - Luteman

As a Luteman, you’ll work directly behind the paver to distribute and smooth hot mix asphalt using a lute. This position plays a critical role in ensuring an even surface and quality finish. You’ll be part of a tight-knit paving crew, working outdoors on roads, parking lots, and commercial sites.

• Use a hand lute to spread, level, and smooth freshly laid asphalt
• Check for low/high spots and adjust material as needed
• Rake and feather edges, joints, and transitions
• Work in coordination with the paver operator and roller operator
• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE
• Assist with general labor and clean‑up as needed
• Maintain tools and equipment

• Prior experience with asphalt paving or construction preferred
• Ability to work in hot, fast‑paced outdoor environments
• Must be physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs
• Willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a crew
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license preferred
• Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends during the season
